Everything about laser scanner

WHAT IS AND HOW DOES A LASER SCANNER WORK?

A laser scanner is an optical sensor that emits laser impulses and records reflex beams. It executes a scansion in a range, emits, therefore a sequence of laser impulses according to a grid that is extremely thicked, measuring in automatic way points’ space co-ordinates that reflect beams.

WHAT IS THE PRODUCT OF A SCANSION?

The result of scansion is a cloud of measured points, that have space co-ordinates known. All these points create a lot of clouds of points tridimensional. These clouds form foundation for the elaboration of 3D models, bidimensional rappresentations CAD and orthophoto.

WHAT’S AN ORTHOPHOTO?

A orthophoto or orthophotography is a photography that has been geometrically corrected in order that photography’s scale was uniform. An orthophoto can be used to measure real distances, because it has been calibrated from an accurate survey effected by laser scanner.

WHAT IS THERMOGRAPHY?

During thermography we use a infrared camera (or thermocamera), that measures object’s thermic energy. Unlike visible light, every elements in infrared rays’ world with a temperature above zero (about -273,15°C), emit heat. Higher is the temperature of an object, the more this one irradiates infrared rays. It’s possible with this technique, for example, locate the presence of structural damages, moistness, opening in walls tha we can’t see with naked eye etc.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES ABOUT LASER SCANNER?

- Precision
- Timing
- During survey there is an increase of speed
- Safety
- We collect all the data at a distance in order to be safe in dangerous situations.
